LOCAL RULES AS AT 20 MARCH 2026
Penalty Areas (Rule17)
Penalty areas are defined by red stakes. Refer Rule 17.1(d) for relief options.
Out Of Bounds (Rule 18)
Out of Bound boundaries are defined by black-topped posts (Boundary objects). They are not obstructions and no free relief is available.
A ball is also deemed out of bounds when it comes to rest in any resort car park or private residence, or on or beyond the asphalt road adjacent to the 18th green.
No Play Zones (Rule 2.4)
Defined by green stakes. Play is prohibited from these areas. Refer Rule 17.1e.
Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16)
Immovable obstructions include toilet blocks (Holes 6 and 13), distance markers, pine posts defining no-go areas, and all stakes defining penalty areas, GUR and no play zones, practice fairway fence on holes 3 & 9 the player must determine the nearest point of relief without crossing over, through or under the fence.), sprinkler heads and irrigation covers, all artificial surfaces including roads and paths. Refer Rule 16.1b. for relief options.
Immovable Obstructions Close To Putting Greens (Rule 16.1b)
A player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is on the line of play, and is on, or within, two club-lengths of the putting green, and within two club-lengths of the ball. Complete relief must be taken, which includes both physical and line of play interference. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.
Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)
Greens
Areas of damage on greens caused by birds are treated as an abnormal course condition (Ground Under Repair) from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b. Relief is not allowed if the damage only interferes with the player’s stance.
Bunkers
Areas of washed-out sand in bunkers are to be treated as an abnormal course condition (Ground Under Repair). The player may take relief under Rule 16.1c.
Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway
If a player’s ball lies in the general area, on a grassed area cut to fairway height or less or in the rough within four club-lengths from the edge of the area cut to fairway height or less, the tree roots are treated as an abnormal course condition (ground under repair). The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b by dropping within one club-length of the nearest point of complete relief, no nearer the hole. Relief is not allowed if the tree root only interferes with the player’s stance.
Provisional Ball (Penalty Areas)
Under Rule 18.3, a player is not allowed to play a ball provisionally if it is known or virtually certain that their ball is in a penalty area.
Exception – Holes 11 & 14
A provisional ball is allowed to be played on Holes 11 & 14 if there is doubt whether a ball is in or lost in the left hand side of the penalty area, a provisional ball may be played under Rule 18.3a. If the original ball is found outside the penalty area, it must be played. If found in the penalty area, the player may play it or continue with the provisional ball. If not found within 3 minutes, the provisional ball becomes the ball in play.
Drop Zone – Hole 17
If a ball is in, or is known or virtually certain to be in, the penalty area left of the 17th green and cart path, the player may proceed under Rule 17.1, or as an additional option, drop a ball in the designated Drop Zone (DZ) on the fairway.
The Drop Zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3. The ball must be dropped and come to rest within the marked area.

Match Play – Loss of hole
Stroke Play – General penalty (2 strokes)
